Symptoms of Nail Fungus:

  • Yellow nails.
  • Powdery substance under nail edge.
  • Rough or crumbly thickened nails.

Toenail and Fingernail Fungus Treatment:

  • Keep feet dry after showers. Fungi love moisture. Talcum powder before putting on your socks can also help to keep them dry during the day.
  • Cotton socks. These socks tend to wick away perspiration keeping feet dry.
  • Remember your shoes. When under treatment don't forget to shake some antifungal powder into your shoes to avoid picking the fungus back up.
  • Wear slippers in public showers and changing rooms to avoid picking up the fungi from their floors..
  • Antifungal agents. These can be topical nail paints like Penlac, creams, or ointments like Tea Tree oil which can take up to a year to clear. Or oral tablets like Lamisil which take about 3 months for fingernails and 6 months for toenails.
